Les Miserables- Brilliant. It was very well done, and we were all literally reduced to tears as Jean Valjean gave his final words. The actor playing him had an amazing voice, as did Eponine. And Gavroche was adorable. Even though it is a dark story, I can see why it is the longest-running musical ever.
Me, Kathy, Chris...we got in trouble for taking this photo inside!

Wicked- So I knew maybe 2 of the songs and knew nothing but the concept behind the musical before seeing it. It was completely different from Les Mis...colorful, contemporary, funny. I thought the actress playing Elphaba had a fantastic voice. I'm glad they tied everything in from the movie, though I didn't quite understand some things like the random dragon haha. I thought it was slightly overrated in terms of all the hype...I know everyone is going to hate me after saying that! It was very entertaining, but to me, it didn't go as deep as it could have.

Kathy, Me

Sherlock Holmes Museum- 221 Baker Street, where Doyle set the brilliant, independent detective's home, is carved out as a museum even though he was a fictional character. As one of my favorite book characters, I loved it. I asked the guy above if I could take a picture with the door and he was like, sure, here's a hat and pipe. So I asked him if he wanted to be in it too! I would have given a thumbs-up had I known he was.

"Watson" and "Sherlock"

Elvis Store- We decided that in England, they have two outside of the country obcessions: Egypt, and Elvis. Seriously, what is an Elvis store doing in England?! For real, it was right next to the Beatles shop. Inside we met the guy working there who was dressed up as Elvis and sang us songs...most excellent. Please enjoy our own impersonations...

Harrod's- This is included in the showbiz section simply because the dang thing was all about presentation. If you haven't heard of it, it's an ENORMOUS store-- like a whole office building big. Seriously this place was insane. And every room was themed differently, with different worker uniforms for each area. You could get lost here and no one would find you for months.

I still have more to post on England, so look forward to some of that! ;) Please check out my other photos, since I'm only putting up one per place on the blog. The link is on my profile here, listed as my website.

In terms of what is going on in Maastricht, we started classes yesterday and are just trying to cope with our loud pAArtying neighbors (thank you Perez). But things are looking exciting (and scenic!!) for our weekend trip- the plan right now is to tackle these places:
Salzburg- Mozart's birthplace (YESSSSS oh goodness so excited), Sound of Music tour
Germany's Neuschwanstein castle

DUDE!!! I might have to de-friend you for not being super impressed with Wicked, but since it doesn't seem like you hate it, I guess it's all good. haha

Also...is there a way to accompany you on some of these really cool sounding weekend trips? Pretty please? :) It turns out that I'm really bad at planning things...lol

You should really read the book "Wicked"...it explains the "random" dragon. :)
